Our programs blend immersive hands-on experiences, place-based learning and meaningful time outdoors to bring history to life. Through engaging exploration of the land, culture and stories that shaped our region, students build deeper connections to the past and a stronger understanding of the world around them. History Brought to Life
Colonial History
Students step into the world of 17th–18th century New England through immersive, hands-on exploration of colonial life, trade, governance and community decision-making. Available historic spaces in South Windsor include a general store, one-room schoolhouse, colonial jail and other interactive sites that bring the past to life.
Indigenous History
Students explore the rich history, culture and enduring traditions of Indigenous communities along the Connecticut River at the award- winning Nowashe Village. Through immersive, hands-on experiences, students engage with the daily life, knowledge systems, and cultural practices across the Paleo, Archaic and Woodland periods.
