Girl Scouts

Customizable programming is now available for Girl Scout Troops of all ages. Programs are based on decades of research and teaching experience and are hands-on. If you do not see your badge or topic listed, we are happy to develop programming for your troop’s unique needs. Programs can utilize various sites in South Windsor or they can come to you. Likewise, learning about local Indigenous Peoples can take place inside Nowashe Village or at your location. Programs start at $10 per scout, $300 minimum.

Art and History Programs:

Step into the past and learn about life in Connecticut during the Woodland and Colonial Periods with hands-on activities such as candle dipping and sewing or by playing traditional games. Experience late 19th century America when Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of America, grew up.

These programs fulfill badge requirements for My Family Story, Playing the Past, Scribe, Novelist, Troupe Performer, Art and Design.

Outdoor Art Programs:

Let Nowashe Village be your learning backdrop! Learn about how the Indigenous Peoples of New England use nature to create art and make your own! View how Nowashe Village presents outdoor art installations and musical performances. Programs are fully customizable to accommodate all levels from Daisy to Ambassador. Fulfills badge requirements for Outdoor Art Maker, Creator, Explorer, Apprentice, Expert and Master.

Ecology Programs:

A Certified Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Foundation, Nowashe Village offers customizable learning experiences for Girl Scouts interested in learning about plants and animals in their native environment. The village is home to all manner of native flora and fauna for you to observe and help protect. It also features a traditional Three Sisters Garden with opportunities to learn about gardening and seeds. Learn about campfire safety and how to responsibly enjoy the outdoors. 

Fulfills bade requirements for: Eco Learner, Eco Friend, Eco Explorer, Eco Advocate, Bugs, Animal Observer, Animal Habitats, Gardener, Flowers and Trees.
