As guests wine and dine\, an unfortunate event will unfold with an interesting cast of characters played by actors from Ellington Community Theatre. As the sordid drama plays out\, guests will have an opportunity to interact with the characters to get to the bottom of this mystery and figure out the culprit and his or her murderous motive. \nAuction items such as a golf foursome from Wethersfield Country Club and concert tickets from Infinity Theatre in Hartford will be available for participants to bid on. All proceeds go to support educational programming provided by The Watershed History Collective and Nowashe Village. \nTickets are be limited! DESCRIPTION:The Watershed History Collective’s First Annual Race Through Town & Time is a unique\nscavenger hunt around South Windsor based on South Windsor history. \nThe event is taking place on Saturday\, September 19th\, 2026 from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Boundless Playground\nPavilion at Nevers Park. Participants will be given a list of clues to decipher. The clues will be\nbased on locations around town and participants will need to drive to each location to figure out\nanswers. \nParticipants will have precisely two hours to solve as many riddles as possible and\nreturn to Nevers Park in time for judging. Prizes will be awarded to the top placing participants. \n

DESCRIPTION:2026 South Windsor Town-Wide Tag Sale\ninteractive Google map. \nAre you in the market for a hidden treasure?  Do you find yourself ready to rid your house of unwanted items? Would you like the chance to participate in a fun community event?  If these questions ring true\, then the Annual Town-Wide Tag Sale is the event for you! \nThe Watershed History Collective originated the Town-Wide Tag Sale in South Windsor and the next one will be held on August 8\, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  There’s no better time than a Saturday in the summer to have a tag sale.  This event celebrates National Garage Sale Day\, which falls annually on the second Saturday of August.  Those who choose to participate will place their items for sale on their property and will be given a lawn sign to signify they’re part of the event (no permits with the town are necessary).  Participating locations will be included on an interactive Google map available to the public prior to the event. The maps will include an overview of each participating tag sale in town which are sure to have a wide range of treasures. \nParticipants are charged a flat fee of $25 to be included on the map and receive a lawn sign.  You keep all of your tag sale’s proceeds!  Registration will open in spring 2026. \nAnyone can buy\, but sales must be located in South Windsor. DESCRIPTION:The third of four morning walks designed for beginners at Hartford Audubon’s oldest sanctuary. Station 43 is an excellent birding areayear–round and on each walk we will look for seasonal birds. The walk is roughly 2.5 miles (3 hours) long over flat terrain but we may encounter areas with water/ice covering parts of the path.  The ice should be mostly gone as birds begin to return. DESCRIPTION:In 2023-2024 our organization embarked on its largest research project to date\, culminating in an extensive exhibit on local evidence of slavery.  A portion of the exhibit is now on display at the South Windsor Public Library through February. \nWe welcome you to a fascinating presentation that explores specific local evidence in South Windsor.  Recognizing our research\, exhibit\, related programming and curriculum development on this project\, in 2025\, we received an Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of Museums.  This event is the first in a two-part series held at South Windsor Public Library. \nFriday\, February 6\, 2026 2pm – Connecticut in Context\nFriday\, February 27\, 2026 2pm – Slavery in South Windsor \nExamining slavery from a modern perspective is complicated\, and our role as a history organization is not to pass judgement on the past in hindsight\, nor is it our responsibility to ask you to.  However\, understanding history is important to interpreting the world around us today.  We’ve come to know a little about a group of men and women in our town that we are excited to remember and introduce you to:  Tom\, Ansars\, Dr. Primus Manumit\, Prince\, Flora\, Sylvia\, Hector\, London\, Peter\, Prince and several others. \nThanks to advancements in digitization and public access of archival materials\, information about this portion of history is more readily available than ever before\, and as such this is primarily a visual presentation. \nThis program is made possible with support from an Access Grant through the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation.
